About Richard

I have over 25 years of experience working as a professional photographer. Whilst my original training and career was as a chartered civil engineer (knowledge and experience of which still comes in handy when commissioned for commercial and industrial photography work), my passion for photography developed whilst still at university.

My first love was landscape photography and, back in 1992, a portfolio of my work resulted in the prestigious award of Associate Member of the Royal Photographic Society. This was swiftly followed by accredited membership of the British Institute of Professional Photography. Over the years I have produced several books, with my third landscape photography book winning the ‘Yorkshire Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award’.

I soon broadened my repertoire from that early interest in landscape photography and have worked as a full-time professional photographer in and around North Yorkshire since the 1990s. Over the years I have photographed an incredibly varied array of subjects for a wide range of clients. I like to think that I always bring a high level of technical skill, as well as a great deal of creativity, to my work. In recent years I have diversified my skills base and now include videography in that descriptor, most recently attaining drone qualification and Civil Aviation Authority permissions meaning that I can literally elevate my work.
